The President named the most significant scientific achievement of Kazakhstan of the past year. He made the announcement at an awards ceremony for scientists in Astana.

“First of all, it is worth noting that today universities are becoming technological hubs. For example, last year, doctors at the Heart Center of University Medical Center developed a unique innovation — the ALEM (Astana Life Ex-situ Machine), an advanced medical device which can rightfully be called the most significant scientific achievement of 2025. This device allows for the maintenance of the functionality of a donor organ outside the body for more than 24 hours. Such groundbreaking discoveries demonstrate the high potential of Kazakhstan’s science,” said K.-J. Tokayev.
