The main goal of this day is to engage people in environmental protection and remind them that we are responsible for the health of our planet.
UMC is holding “UMC Go Green” week from April 20th to 25th to mark this day.
Our goal is to raise environmental awareness, conserve resources and implement sustainable clinical practices.
The UMC Go Green Week program includes:
– “Elevator Rests—We’re Moving!” Eco-Challenge. We invite all UMC employees to, if possible, skip the elevator for a week and take the stairs. This is a simple way to move more, take care of your health, reduce energy consumption, and contribute to caring for the planet.
Let’s develop eco-friendly habits at UMC together!
– Install LikeKomek boxes for collecting items no longer needed in your home and giving them a new life!
LikeKomek boxes have been installed in three UMC centers, connecting those in need with those willing to help.
– Information sessions and a documentary film screening on sustainable development in healthcare. The healthcare system’s overall impact on the environment is significant, as medicine is a high-tech industry. Therefore, UMC plans to regularly:
* Raise employee awareness of the impact of climate on human health;
* Inform patients about simple eco-friendly solutions;
* Develop a culture of sustainable, eco-friendly behavior.
– Children’s drawings and crafts competition, “A Green World Through the Eyes of Children.” The idea of the competition is to engage our young patients at UMC hospitals in environmental issues and caring for the planet. The contestants’ works are on display in the Gallery of the Central Medical and Health Center’s Transition and in the lobby of the Center.
As part of the “Taza Kazakhstan” environmental campaign, UMC is organizing a “cleaning day” to improve the aesthetics and greenery of the clinic grounds.
In general, UMC clinics have been implementing principles of environmentally friendly and efficient resource use for several years now:
* internal processes are optimized to reduce excess resource consumption
* energy-saving lamps with motion sensors are used
* water-saving systems and modern faucets have been implemented
* “green operating room” projects are being implemented in the operating rooms, optimizing the consumption of electricity, water, and consumables
* elevators are used efficiently, including prioritizing patients and medical transportation when necessary.
This is a systematic effort aimed at the responsible use of UMC’s resources and reducing its environmental impact.
